About us
In Terms One and Two we learnt about animals and habitats. In groups we then did different inquiries about endangered animals. We looked at the Hectors Dolphin, Great White Shark, Orcas, Orang utans and Sumatran tigers.
We thought it was sad when we found out that Sumatran tigers will be extinct soon because their habitat is being destroyed by humans.
When we found out that palm oil was the issue we didn't want to eat anything! We feel annoyed that food companies don't have to label palm oil in foods, so we can't make a choice not to buy that product.
The meaning of 'A Hunger for Palm oil' - that palm oil is in foods because it's cheap to use, like instead of using expensive cocoa butter. A hunger because of money and chopping down rainforests to grow palm trees.
We think we should know what palm oil has come from rainforests that were destroyed for palm plantations.
We think Cadbury's made a good choice and thought wisely to take palm oil out of their chocolate. Read more here.
